At Water4Dogs, we take a team-oriented approach to rehabilitation and physical therapy.

Our goal is to work closely with you, your companion, and your primary veterinarian to determine what is going on, and to develop an individualized treatment plan to promote a quick, smooth recovery. We feel that if there is an emphasis on open communication and teamwork, the rehabilitation will be more successful.

When you call our office to set up an initial consultation, we will ask you questions about your pet that will help us better prepare for your first visit.  Prior to your visit, we will request that you provide us with pertinent medical information such as medical records, vaccination information, xrays and other imaging results if applicable. If you are calling to inquire about rehabilitation versus exercise/fitness for your pet, the differences will explained to you, helping to guide you in the decision-making process.

If your companion has a medical history that contains orthopedic or neurological conditions, is older than eight years old, or is referred for rehabilitation, then he or she will be evaluated by our staff veterinarian. The veterinary examination includes a complete medical history, physical exam, gait analysis, limb measurements (if applicable) and pain assessment. Based on the information gathered from this examination, an individualized treatment plan will be developed for your pet. If your pet is under eight years old, completely healthy and exercise and fitness is your goal, then he or she will be evaluated by one of our senior hydrotherapists to determine whether exercise swimming can be engaged in safely.

Depending on the specific treatment plan, a therapy session can last anywhere from 30-60 minutes and may include hydrotherapy, cold laser therapy, massage, acupuncture, dry manual therapies, and more. Our rehabilitation recommendations usually last anywhere from 10-20 weeks depending on the specific condition(s) being addressed. Individuals are continuously reassessed and plans are modified according to their response to therapy.

Overall, our goal is to promote the health and well-being of your pet. Fortunately, at Water4Dogs, we are able to accomplish this in a relaxed, fun environment that is enjoyable for both pets and their people. We look forward to sharing our experience with you.
